Free Pattern- Women's Size Loom Knit Hat's

Here’s a simple loom knit hat pattern for women’s size. This pattern is for a stretchy and cozy hat that can be adjusted based on the loom size you're using.

Materials Needed:

Loom (36-41 pegs, based on head size)

Loom knitting tool (hook)

Yarn (medium weight, like worsted yarn)

Scissors

Tapestry needle for finishing

Gauge:

4 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch (when using a medium-weight yarn)

Abbreviations:

K = Knit

P = Purl

e-wrap = Wrap the yarn around the peg once, then the second time to make an "e" shape.

BO = Bind off

Loom Size:

For an adult woman’s hat, a 36-peg loom is ideal for most adult heads (about 20-22 inches in circumference). Adjust the loom size based on head circumference.

Instructions:

Cast On:

1. Set Up the Loom: Begin by setting up your loom with the desired number of pegs (36-41 pegs for women's size). Make sure your yarn is secure on the anchor peg.

2. E-Wrap the Loom: Using the e-wrap technique, wrap the yarn around all the pegs to create the base row. You should have two loops on each peg.

Knit the Hat Body:

1. Row 1: Knit (K) all pegs around the loom using the e-wrap method.

2. Row 2: Purl (P) all pegs around the loom. To purl, wrap the yarn around the peg from back to front and then knit over.

3. Repeat: Repeat the knit row and purl row (K1, P1) for 6-8 inches, depending on how deep you want the hat.

Make the Decreases:

1. Row 1: Knit all pegs around the loom as normal.

2. Row 2: Start decreasing by knitting two pegs together.

For example, for a simple decrease: K2tog (Knit two pegs together) and continue around the loom.

3. Repeat the Decreases: Continue decreasing (K2tog) every other row until you're down to about 6-8 pegs remaining.

Finish the Hat:

1. Bind Off: Once you're down to the last few pegs, use the loom tool to pull the working yarn through the last remaining loops. Tie the yarn securely.

2. Close the Top: Use a tapestry needle to weave the yarn tail through the last loops to close up the top of the hat.

Optional- Add a Pom-pom!

You can make a pom-pom for the top of the hat using leftover yarn. Simply cut strands of yarn, tie them together in the center, and trim to your desired size.

Tips

If you want a looser, slouchy hat, add a few extra rows to the body before starting the decreases.

You can adjust the hat's fit by increasing or decreasing the loom size (e.g., a larger loom gives a more relaxed fit).

For extra stretch, use a stretchy cast-on method.
